The Client

ClimateCon is a US based event driving action and fostering collaboration to address climate change.

The Challenge

For the 2024 Climate conference in Colorado the event team needed UI and UX support to improve the existing site and consider how it could evolve as a franchise.
The existing site had accessibility issues, a confusing layout with little hierarchy
of information. It was undervaluing the event and limiting sales.

Steps taken
I reviewed the existing site highlighting user experience problems and providing possible options for the long term development of the site. This audit highlighted issues with content and accessibility. Part of this process also included competitor research, both for events and climate organisations.
Working in priority order I created new layouts and options for the long term site structure through site maps. This was followed with a revised UI of existing
and new pages.

The Outcome

The new designs use an accessible colour palette, consistent typography and spacing, all of which have vastly improved the user experience. The content has be restructured to effectively tell the story of Climate Con, whilst guiding the user to buy tickets - without overwhelm. Next steps for this ongoing project will be to review the site post event, and look at how it can serve multiple events in the future.
